Mountain Mix contains:
20% Cereal Rye (Secale cereale)
A hardy annual grass with germination in 10-14 days. Used as a cover crop in perennial grass mixes to provide soil stabilization.
20% Tetraploid Perennial Rye (Lolium perenne)
Bunchgrass with germination in 5-10 days. One of the most widely used grasses and is adaptable to a wide variety of soils and climate conditions. It has a leafy head and fine stem.
15% Forage Kentucky Bluegrass (Poa pratensis)
Cool season sod-forming grass with germination in 14-21 days. Has darker green foliage and is frequently used for hay for sheep and cattle.
15% Mountain Brome (Bromus carinatus)
A cool season bunchgrass with germination in 10-14 days. Survives on thin, dry or coarse soils, and displays strong winter hardiness. Mountain brome produces best in moist deep fertile soils.
15% Orchardgrass (Dactylis glomerata)
Bunchgrass with germination in 14-21 days. A persistent perennial that is one of the earliest growing grasses in the spring. Orchardgrass performs well in most soil types.
10% Timothy (Phleum pratense)
A cool season bunchgrass with germination in 7-10 days. Thrives on finer textured soils and is known as a nutritious producer of hay, pasture, or silage.
5% Alsike Clover (Trifolium hybridum)
Alsike is a winter hardy, short- lived perennial clover that acts as a biennial. It is well adapted to cool climates and wet soils. For new seeding, broadcast at 20-25 lbs./acre or drilled at 15-20 lbs./acre. For over-seeding, broadcast at 10-15 lbs./acre or drilled at 5-10 lbs./acre.
