Agriculture Jobs: Senior Manager of Turf and Forage Sales

Position Overview: Looking for agriculture jobs? The Senior Manager of Turf and Forage Sales is a leadership position responsible for growing and maintaining turf and forage customer relationships and sales. Growing relationships with existing customer base and fostering new relationships to maintain and increase sales growth. Lead and be involved in inventory management as well as procurement. Aid sales staff in all aspects of turf and forage sales through mentoring and training. An experienced sales leadership role with elite expertise in turf and forage products as well as best management practices to ensure the right product for the right situation.  

Key Responsibilities:

1. Sales and Growth:

Maintain and grow current customer base through excellent customer service, timely performance, and new product promotion when applicable. Customer base should consist of the following:

  1. Parks and Rec, School districts, and municipal districts
  2. Sports fields and golf courses
  3. Retail: Agricultural Cooperatives, Garden Centers, Farm Stores
  4. Landscape Professionals
  5. Sod Farms
  6. Farming and Ranching Professionals
  • Assist in over the counter sales as necessary
  • Ability to accurately quote custom seed mixes in a timely manner
  • Build new customer base through in person sales calls via travel
  • Ability to sell, process, and follow order from start to finish

2. Training and Leadership:

  • Lead inside sales group as a reference in all aspects of turf and forage sales
  • Offer training and education for customer bases staff and/or customers
  • Create educational materials as reference for AVSeeds Staff and customers

3. Customer Management:

  • Maintain and foster professional relationships within industry professionals and customer base to maintain and build sales
  • Follow orders from start to finish to understand timing of delivery/ fulfillment to be able to communicate that with customers

4. Inventory Management and Procurement:

  • Monitor inventory and address the needs when necessary
  • Procurement of turfgrass and forage inventory at proper market value

5. Industry Presence

  • Maintain and participate in industry organizations events, memberships, etc.
  • Explore other organizations within the industry that would be a benefit AVSeeds and customer base

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in Horticulture, Agriculture, Turf Management, or related field
  • Minimum of 5+ years of experience in sales or related industry of turf management, rangeland management, agriculture, or agro-business.
  • Ability to work in teams or on your own
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Highly motivated and strong work ethic 
  • Ability to travel as needed to meet with customers, attend events, and support sales activities.
