Description
31% Foxtail Millet A popular hay-type millet that is leafy and fine-stemmed with compact heads. It exhibits good lodging resistance. The hay is sweet and palatable when harvested at late bloom.
16% Yellow Sweet Clover A cold tolerant biennial that is extremely easy to establish due to it’s fast maturity. Drought and cold tolerant, use for erosion control on saline and alkaline soils.
16% Canada Wildrye Canada Wildrye is a short-lived perennial, cool-season native bunchgrass that grows to 48”. It is moderately drought tolerant, winter hardy, and has good tolerance to salinity and shade.
15% Virginia Wildrye Virginia wild rye is a native, cool-season, perennial bunch grass. It is similar to Canada wild rye in appearance but is typically shorter in height, with shorter awns on the seed head.
12% Switchgrass Switchgrass is a native, warm season grass that grows up to 5 feet tall. It is highly tolerant of poor soils, flooding, and drought, and provides high-quality pasture and hay for livestock. It’s climatically adapted throughout most of the United States and is also used for reclamation of dunes and dikes. However, seedlings tend to be slow to develop and are susceptible to weed competition. It prefers moderately deep to deep, somewhat dry to poorly drained, sandy to clay loam soils.
7% Sideoats Grama A medium-size perennial, warm-season bunchgrass or sod-forming grass grows 15 to 30” tall or occasionally taller. It is a large, coarse grass found on rocky open slopes, woodlands, and forest openings up to 7,000 feet. It has adapted to most soil conditions and is one of the most essential range grasses. It is distributed throughout most of the United States.
3% Creeping Red Fescue This grass is hardy, wear-resistant, and shade-tolerant. It is drought-resistant after establishment and adapted to sandy and acid soils. It prefers well-drained soils but requires ample moisture for establishment.
This is a multi-purpose grass mix that offers excellent grazing, soil stabilization, and drought resistance. It’s a mix of cool and warm-season grasses, great for natural cover in dryland conditions, can grow well in higher elevations, and contains pollinator-friendly species. This mix can do it all! With a seeding rate of 20-25 lbs/acre for new seeding and 10-15 lbs/acre for overseeding, it can grow up to 24-36 inches at full potential.
