Lodgepole Pine (Pinus contorta var. latifolia)

Lodgepole Pine is large evergreen tree growing up to 150 feet. Dark green pines grow in bundles of two, while pinecones bloom in May.

Description

Conifer evergreen growing between 70 and 150 feet high. Lodgepole Pines have a slender trunk with thin rigid bark. Needle-like leaves form in twisted bundles of two. Orange-red cones bloom in clusters in May. Grows best in moist soil and full sun. Important cover for wildlife and range cattle.
