Desert Willow (Chilopsis linearis)

Deciduous shrub or tree capable of growing 20-30 feet tall. Known for its strong trunk, scaly dark brown bark, and hairy and sticky twigs. Blooming from April to August, the Desert Willow produces white orchid-like flowers with purple to pink throats. Fruit containing tan seeds with dual hair wings matures in autumn, and remains on the tree until spring. Prefers full sun and well drained soils; drought tolerant.
