Birch-Leaf Mountain Mahogany (Cercocarpus montanus)

Small tree or shrub with dark green and silver foliage fuzzy foliage. Inconspicuous flowerings happens in the spring. Following the flowers, the plant produces feathery, silver-white fruits that are spiral-shaped from Spring to Fall. Wildlife are attracted to the fragrant foliage.

Black Sagebrush (Artemisia nova)

Black Sagebrush is an evergreen native shrub growing 10 to 18 inches tall. Plant has light green foliage and brown flowers that bloom from August to September. Prefers well drained dry soil and full sun.

Blue Paloverde (Parkinsonia florida)

Leafless throughout most of the year as the bluish-green bark and twigs perform photosynthesis. Produces bright green leaves, yellow flowers, and brown seed pods. Flowers attract bees; wildlife browse on the twigs and seed pods.  Prefers full sun and dry soils; doesn’t need any watering after established.

Crimson Clover (Trifolium incarnatum)

Crimson clover, as a winter annual, is usually planted in the late summer to early fall. It can be utilized in pasture, hay, organic farming, pollinator enhancement, silage mixes, or used as a winter cover for soil protection or green manure crop for soil improvement.

Crown Vetch (Securigera varia)

Crown vetch is a herbaceous, perennial legume introduced from the Mediterranean region. Crown vetch has a multi-branched root system and spreads by strong fleshy rhizomes making it useful with soil stabilization. Flowers are pinkish-white to deep pink in long-stalked clusters. Seed pods are segmented, pointed, borne in crown-like clusters. It is not a true vetch and does not have tendrils for climbing. It normally grows to a height of 1½ to 2 feet.

Four-Wing Saltbush (Atriplex canescens)

Native shrub growing 3 to 8 feet tall. Plant produces yellow, showy fruit from spring to fall with inconspicuous flowers. Attracts butterflies, bees, and many different kinds of wildlife. Provides cover to small animals.

Lacy Phacelia (Phacelia tanacetifolia)

Lacy phacelia is a native annual wildflower. The height varies from 1 to 3 feet. Lacy phacelia is drought tolerant and grows well given 7 to 18 inches of annual precipitation or irrigation. It prefers well drained sandy and gravelly soils and does not perform well under waterlogged conditions. The plant grows at a variety of elevations from sea level up to 8,000 feet. Lacy phacelia is listed in the top 20 pollen producing flowers for honeybees and is highly attractive to pollinator insects including bumblebees. Bloom season varies with location: April through June in the Mediterranean climate native range in California, in more temperate regions bloom time is extended.
